About

I have painted most of my life. Landscapes have been a frequent theme. Although the starting point is often a particular place the work often develops so that it reflects some aspect of internal landscape.

I am excited by the "small" moments in life; the moments often missed rather than the grandeur of the expected view. Interfaces atttract me; where things meet rather than the things themselves.

I also enjoy painting the human body. It is a landscape which fortunately can be drawn and painted independant of time of day or weather conditions.

I grew up with access to Skira art books. The books themselves are quite small and the illustrations smaller. This meant that the surface of the images seemed perfect. Only when coming to view the real thing I realised that the reality ws often very different. Consequently I am enthralled by the surface of the picture as much as the image itself.
